Limit Ask your Instructor a question

Hi everyone, 

We had an issue today where someone used the ask your instructor a question box and it sent an email to 26 people.  Obviously this isn't ideal and I can't find the documentation stating exactly which roles get this email (not all the people were set as Teachers).  Is it editable or is it something we'll have to remove and add a different approach for?

Are you talking about the option accessed from the Help menu?  I just tested it out and it seems to go to Teachers and TAs.  And if you have any custom courses roles based on either of those types it would also likely go to them as well.

I don't think you can change the behavior but you can remove it from your instance of Canvas since everything in that help area is customization.  As an Admin go to Settings and then the Help Menu Options.  You can click the trash can next to that option and Save to remove it.

Hi Rick,

Thanks, that's what I thought. We've ended up disabling it for now until I can run some more tests to see exactly who it messages in our account as there were some non-teacher, non-ta roles that got pinged by the message.
