Limiting access to a commons site

Hi! I'd like to set up a commons site for sharing teaching resources with my colleagues, but I want to make sure that this commons site is not viewable by our students. I'm told that setting up a Commons is the easiest way to allow instructors to quickly import tools to their own Canvas course sites, but that the commons sites are also still accessible to any student who is logged into Canvas, as well. This would be a problem if we were sharing test formats and keys among us, for instance...

I think you were told some incorrect information.  The "Commons" global navigation button is not visible to or clickable by students.  Canvas Commons is only available to instructors and Canvas administrators.  Commons Overview (Instructors)
