Limiting privileges for students

Is there a way that I can do this in a batch? I do hate the fact that I have to go student by student to change their privileges. I teach 1 course with 5 different sections and I was trying to limit my students to contact only students in their section. After I changed every single student to only access fellow classmates in the same sections they were not able to reach me. I am the teacher. That's odd. Every single student in my class should be able to inbox me. Now, I have to fix the problem and undo what I had done. Please help!!!
