Linked files in instructions

I hyper-linked a word in the instructions of an assignment to a PDF file.  When the students clicked on the link they get a blank screen with the word "unauthorized" in the upper left corner.  What can I do to fix it?

Hello @smboyle ...

An "unauthorized" message could be because of any number of things, but here are a couple that come to mind:

• Did you copy/paste the link from one course to another?  If so, you cannot do that because the copied link is pointing to a different course.  You need to make sure that the PDF file exists in the "Files" area of the course where your students are accessing course content.
• Are you following the instructions outlined in this Guide?  How do I insert course files into the Rich Content Editor using the Content Selector as an instructo...
