Linking model answers to a graded assignment

In Blackboard (previous CMS) I could link model answers (a separate document) so that once a student had been graded (perhaps with a mark above a certain amount) or even just submitted, they could see this answer sheet, otherwise it was hidden from them. This is what I need to do in Canvas.  So I have the Assignment, the student completes it, I see it in Gradebook, I give a grade and then the answer sheet becomes visible, but not before.

I have searched high and low here and on Google and I can not figure this out, please help.

Greetings, I am not aware of a function in Canvas for what you described.  However, an option could be to create a Canvas announcement with the answer sheet attached.  You could set this up in advance using the delay posting feature.

Thanks, that is an idea. But that would be after all students had completed the assignment. I want a student to be able to check the answers as soon as I have graded the submission. I don't do this all at once, I reward students who submit earlier by grading their work as it comes in.

Do you leave comments through SpeedGrader? It’s possible to attach a file within a comment for students who are ready for the answers. (How do I leave feedback comments for student submissions in SpeedGrader?) While this takes some time — especially with large classes — it allows only the students who completed the work to see the answers.

If you use modules, another option would be to use module requirements. After that particular item is graded or submitted, the next item could be “unlocked” for that students. That’s automatic, too!

Thanks Kristin, that is also useful. Yes, I know I can attach a file one-by-one in speed grader. My class is not too big (about 20) so that is a work-around.

Yes I do use modules. I experimented with requirements, thanks, I didn't know about that. I think this may work, I would need to add the model answers in the list after (below) the assignment, and then require a grade on the assignment before they can move on to the answers. I will try that latere today, now I have to go teach.

Thanks Kirstin, I think the "requirements" will do what I want. See these screenshots. In the first one, I set the module requirements settings:  (1) require a score on the assignment, (2) view the model answers. Important! must check "Students must move through requirements in sequential order". So in the 2nd screenshot (student view) the model answers link is not visible (yet).
