Login Update with SIS ID number

I have a user who wants to remove an email account associated with their login. They currently have an @yahoo email and an @gmail email.  The SIS ID information is only showing within the login details for the @yahoo email.

My question is can I just copy the SIS ID from the @yahoo and paste into the @gmail and then delete the @yahoo without effecting the user's account?

Would there be any negative effects from using the Update Login to make these changes?

Got some added support.  The answer was edit email for the login with the SIS number to make it the preferred login.  Of course, the other had to be deleted first to avoid the 'already in use' error.  User needed to preform a password reset and is good to go.
