My students can't see discussions I am posting

I have created a discussion post within a class I have but my students are not able to see anything when they click on the discussion tab. I have tried to publish them, change the dates available, pin and unpin them but nothing seems to work. I am using "canvas free for teachers" if that makes a difference and using chrome as my browser.

Are these items included in an unpublished Module?

Is "Discussions" available in the Course Navigation for the students?
