New Quizzes Migration

I've read the documentation in the release notes and contacted Canvas support to try and get a handle on the New Quizzes migration. When my institution retires Old Quizzes and migrates in New Quizzes how will it affect the faculty.

Will faculty still be able to edit and use the old quizzes they created? Will the quizzes be automatically migrated into the new format, or will faculty have to perform the conversion manually for their new courses?

I'm not sure if I'm asking the right question or even silly questions (🤡), but just trying to get a handle on this before the 'conversion' is performed several months down the line. 

Can anyone explain this in oversimplified terms? Thanks.

So far, I have been able to turn on new quizzes and use new and old quizzes side by side.  Existing old quizzes are migrated one at a time on the quizzes tab.  The migration creates a duplicate of the old quiz formatted as a new quiz.  Both are available to me to use. 

But right now new quizzes are still optional.  I am hoping that access use existing old quizzes will be retained even if the ability to add new old quizzes is removed.

Steven_S Thank you for the reply.  I did notice when I migrated a classic quiz into a new quiz it was in a locked type of format in the New Quizzes, in that I couldn't further edit it inside of New Quizzes. However, I still have access to the Classic Quiz to edit it, then migrate it to a New Quiz. 

Also, right now having both available, and being able work in both formats works for me. I like having that flexibility to create and edit inside of both, but I know it won't last forever. 

My worry is down the line as it starts phasing out; I believe in October of 2021 the Class Quizzes will no longer be available for editing. It seems like Canvas is doing a great job slowly scaffolding this in. Just trying to dot my I's and cross my T's so as I get into 2021 I can cushion the blow, and avoid any loss of effort the faculty had put into there Class Quizzes.  Cheers.
