Observer access for one on one aide

We're new to canvas this year, and have received a few requests, specifically from special ed teachers and one on one aides, for how to monitor their students in other classes. Is there a best practice for this? Originally we were thinking about making them an observer, but I don't know if that's the right way to go about it or not.

As an administrator, you could create a custom role for your aides. You could base it off of the Observer role but then decide how many and what types of permissions they have.

I think the Observer role is a great place to start though. I bet they'd get all the information they need! With this, encourage the aides to look at the Canvas Parent app. They can observe multiple students (if needed) and set custom alerts/notifications based on assessments, up-coming activities, etc.
