One student submitted group assignment but it shows submission for all group members?

I created an assignment and differentiated it using the groups feature.

One student did the assignment in her assigned group and submitted it, however it shows that submission for ALL members in the group, when they didn't do it yet. I am worried that other students will see her work and will copy it or claim it as their own.

I've assigned the assignments correctly by assigning them to a specific group and not to everyone. How can I make it so that students in that group must do their own work and not see others?

This is what I thought "groups" were too- but I believe they're meant for group projects, where you're working together.

Unfortunately, I don't think groups are meant for differentiated versions. Hopefully someone from Canvas can confirm!
