Paste multiple student names into Assign To field at once?

Greetings,

I notice a student is populated into the "Assign To" field in an assignment when I type a student's name and then type a comma (,). Is it possible to input a string of names separated by a comma or semicolon to autopopulate a group of student names into an assignment? Or does it have to go one at a time? I can't find a typing trick to get the Assign To field to generate multiple, discreet student names from one string of text.

Being able to do this would allow me to set assignments for groups of students (distinct from the Groups made under People). This would help as our school navigates sectioning in a COVID context where people are taking the same course at different times and their participation may change based on being solely online or having campus eventually open.

Any help would be appreciated!

I also have this question! It seems like it should be easy to copy and paste the name of the students but I have not found a way. We have students set up in groups but we need to only assign our external tool (storyline) assignment to the team leader for the week. We have over 50 teams... So doing it one by one every week is not efficient.

I have found a bit of a workaround for this which requires a windows computer and the use of an external application.

The application is called ClickPaste, and it simulates typing the text from a keyboard rather than pasting the whole thing at once. Download and extract the zip file from here, and then run the clickpaste.exe application to load it up. Then, if you copy and paste a list of students from a spreadsheet, it will work as you all hoped for.

I also added the application to my startup items and made sure it was always visible in the system tray.
