PowerPoint preview error in Canvas

Jump to solution

Sometimes when previewing a PowerPoint file in Canvas, the fonts get substituted causing text overflow. It does not occur with every file, but once the file has the issue, there does not seem to be a way to fix it. I have also noticed other deleted content such as images showing back up. I have tested this on a Windows PC using Chrome and Firefox, as well as with Mac OSX (10.13) using Safari and Chrome. Is there any known resolution for this issue?

In the attached files I used a san serif font, Arial, for the slide in PowerPoint. When viewing the preview in Canvas it appears as a serif font with the text overflowing. For this particular course there are 9 presentations and 5 preview properly while 4 do not.

Hi  @brackj  a belated  Welcome to the Community. Smiley Happy

From what I'm reading I think you're referring to the DocViewer preview within Speedgrader for powerpoints, correct? If so, this is actually a known issue and we would love if you'd report it. It's a bug in the system! See the following information regarding it:

To submit a ticket, have docviewer open with the specific assignment you see that issue with, and then submit a ticket using the Help Section on the left in your Navigation bar.
