I use planbook.com for lesson planning, and many teachers say that they have had success embedding the "student view" into their webpages. I have been able to use embed codes for YouTube with no problem in module pages. When I tried to embed the "student view" on the course syllabus page, it comes up blank. Is there a problem with the way Canvas talks to Planbook? Is there a specific code Canvas needs to be able to display content from a web service?
This is the code I've been using:
<object data= http://planbook.com/planbook.html?t=973016&k=mblatinplans&y=526357&c=4817487 width="1000" height="800">
<embed src= http://planbook.com/planbook.html?t=973016&k=mblatinplans&y=526357&c=4817487 width="1000" height="800">
I think the issue is that you're URL is starting with http instead of https, Canvas requires the secure https. In addition it doesn't look like you're using an iframe - How do I embed a lesson inside a Canvas course?
I wanted to check in with you since it has been over a month since you first posted this question to the Canvas Community. Was the response from @kona helpful to you? If so, please go ahead and mark her answer as "Correct". I'm going to mark this question as "Assumed Answered", but again, you can mark Kona's answer as "Correct" if you feel her answer addresses your question. People can still comment on this question, too. Please keep us posted, John. Thanks!
I fixed it. I used the iframe type of ebmed code, and had to add an 's' at the end of http in the url to make the link embed. Thanks for the helpful suggestions!
I am also trying to embed the student view of my planbook onto my Canvas class home pages but cannot seem to figure out the correct way to enter the html embed code and the link to planbook. Might you be able walk me through these steps? I am not well-versed in html. Thanks!
