Removing HTML from HTML Editor doesn't remove HTML.

Hi there,

I'm having trouble linking our students to Jstor in Canvas.

Jstor say that because the link has a target="_blank" in it students are losing their authentication through our domain.

I've gone into the HTML editor of the page that holds the link. I have removed it from there.  But when I inspect the page/element, it is still there.

How can I remove that target="_blank" line? 

I have Administrator access so if I need to go somewhere I don't normally go I can. Please don't simply say 'Ask your administrator', I wouldn't be here if they knew.

I need instructions on how to remove it, or whether that is even possible.

Would a better solution be to turn the link into a menu item?

Hello  @cwindsor ‌,

It's unclear from your image exactly  where  that text/link are -but it  looks  like  it's editable content (course home page, assignment,  etc...).  There are two steps to editing  the  HTML  directly:

1. Click "Edit" on the page so you're  taken to the Rich Content Editor  (How do I edit a page in a course? )

2. Click the "HTML" button on the bottom-right of the editor, it looks like </>

Now you are able to edit the HTML of the page directly, don't forget to save!

Thanks for your reply.  I've gone into the HTML editor of the page that holds the link. I have removed it from there.  But when I inspect the page/element (right click, inspect element), it is still there.
