Rewriting Imported Announcements

This thread from a few years ago is saying that Canvas will not send notifications for imported announcements, even if they are edited and dated for later release. Is this still true? I hope not, because it means that I will have to save all my announcements elsewhere, delete all imported announcements to a new course, and recreate them manually every semester! That's ... um ... less than ideal. Let me know. Thanks! -- Doug

So does students see the imported announcements or not automatically if they go to Announcements????? I know I can edit and send, but I don't want the students to see the announcement until I am ready.
