What is "sandbox" used for?  Why is it on my profile?

patricia.wright, Canvas itself doesn’t come with prebuilt sandbox courses. So this is something added by individual schools, which in this case would mean it was added by someone (probably a Canvas admin) at your school.

Normally a “sandbox” course is a course used by schools to let teachers try out Canvas. Each teacher would get their own sandbox course and would be listed as the “teacher” for the course so that way they have teacher level permissions. The sandbox isn’t a real course with real students so teachers can build their course or try different Canvas features without worrying that students will see or be impacted by what they are doing. So no fear of making mistakes or messing something up. Yet, if you build something you like and want to use in your sandbox it is easy to copy it into a “real” course with students.

Hope this helps!
