Can I make it so that only certain students have access to modules? I have a teacher who needs to differentiate a few of the modules and didn't know if he could link student names to specific modules.

Not currently. The Mastery Paths probably will help with this kind of thing.
You can create an assignment or discussion board and assign it to one user only, but not full modules.
