Students failing to hit "submit" on a quiz

Jump to solution

If a student takes a quiz but fails to submit a quiz, can the teacher submit it for the student?

Hi rothgregory@hotmail.com  That is what I have found as well.  I haven't discovered a way to trigger a quiz in progress to close or the option to submit for a student if the timed setting was used initially.  Your best option may be to message all students without a submission and remind them to formally submit the quiz.  From the gradebook you can message all students with missing assignments at once (see How do I send a message to my students from the Gradebook? or How do I send a message to students from the New Gradebook?).

rothgregory@hotmail.com, greetings! Yes, this is something the Instructor can do. See this guide for directions - https://community.canvaslms.com/docs/DOC-12759-4152276726

Hope this helps! Kona

When I go into Moderate the Quiz, I don't have a Check on Outstanding Quizes option. The only option it is offering is to add extra attempts. The quiz was originally untimed -- but I put a time limit on it, post exam -- yet still nothing. I went back and changed the Available Date (ending the availability), but still nothing. I can look at the student's access log -- and it has a timer just ticking away -- even though the student is not in the quiz -- the quiz is just left open...

Hi rothgregory@hotmail.comand welcome to the Community!  I have looked several times and have not found a way to force submit a quiz for students.  This is the closest option, How do I manually submit outstanding student quiz submissions?,  but only applies in very specific circumstances.  Priority: Assignments 2.0 does include teacher submission of student assignments.  Here it is noted that the idea will influence development priorities in Q2 of 2019 (https://community.canvaslms.com/ideas/1124-submit-an-assignment-on-behalf-of-a-student ) so maybe an update will be available soon.  The new quiz system (Priority: Quizzes.Next: General Availability) is considered an "assignment" so my hope is that these efforts will allow in progress quizzes to be submitted by teachers as well.

I hope this helps and best wishes!
