OK, am I crazy? This semester, I look at the submission form (I'm talking about the little square that pops up when I click on the submission in the gradebook, and that says "More details in the Speedgrader") and then go to Speedgrader and grade the submission itself. So far, no problem. The problem is that the little "More details in the Speedgrader" box stays open as a tab...so when I've graded several submissions in a row, I have a slew of tabs open at the top, all of which I have to close manually! Didn't Canvas used to function so that once I graded the submission, it disappeared from the tab? Or again, am I crazy?
#I am currently a student and I recently experienced "STUDENT SUBMISSIONS/HOMEWORK ASSIGNMENT NOT SAVED......now MISSING"
I submitted my homework assignment recently through Turnitin via Canvas before due date/time. I received the "green" check mark that it was submitted. Yesterday, I logged into my email and I received a notification alert from Canvas regarding homework assignment has been graded. I click on the provided link to direct me to Canvas and view my grade. Anxious to find out my grade, turned into my homework assignment was "MISSING" through Canvas. I immediately sent a message to my professor and contacted the help desk at my university to verify that I was logged in the submission section within the time frame it was due. They were able to verify my log in, but not my submission of my assignment. My professor was understanding and kind to allow me to re-submit my assignment as a "late submission," which means I will be penalized 25% of my grade. I sent my professor and the help desk Tech. support my word document of my homework assignment the date stamped/time it was last modified. It's the only proof that I have that I completed my assignment within the due date/time frame given. I was told to contact Canvas Tech support for further details in regards to verifying my homework submission and the time of my log-ins. I contacted the "Live Chat" support as directed. I was told by the "Live Chat" tech that the information I received from the help desk (at my university) "gave is the most I would be able to give as well. Canvas simply doesn't track more than that." That was the response I received from Canvas/Instructure, Inc. tech support. A billion dollar platform and the tech. support can't figure this out?!? What kind of quality of service is that and what does that say about their "value" to its customers/students. I am wondering how many students experienced the same issue in the past and/or in recent days with the dilemma of Canvas malfunctioning when submitting a submission/homework assignment. Furthermore, on right side of canvas advises submissions/assignments outstanding that are currently due. When I submitted my assignment and completed my quiz shortly afterwards, it was not listed as outstanding. It was though all submissions were received and completed.
My grade / GPA will be impacted due to the failure of Canvas'/Instructure, Inc. technology.
This is very unfair!!
