Submitting Pictures

I am using Canvas for my art classes. However, it is a lot easier to submit pictures with an iPad than it is with the MacBook Pro. Students can access their camera within Canvas and take a picture if they are on an iPad within a text box. If they are using a MacBook they can only use the camera to record a video. Is there a way they can use it to take a picture like you can with an iPad? My lower elementary have iPads, but 4th-12th grade uses laptops and must do 10 extra steps to do what the iPads and Canvas can do in 2 steps.
