We currently use replacement strings to personalize email, announcements, news, even quizzes for students. These strings (i.e., {FirstName} ) will pull in the student's first name to show it in the welcome announcement, news, emails, even at the start of a quiz. This is a great tool and I am wonder how to do this in Canvas. This code doesn't appear to work as the code itself showed up in the announcements.
Thanks
Karen

@kbarth , this sounds like what we used when we were on Angel and really liked this ability to personalize things. Unfortunately, this functionality does not exist in Canvas. I did a quick check and didn't see it as a Canvas Feature Ideas either, so my recommendation would be to create this as a new idea - How do I create a new feature idea?. I know I'd vote for it!

Yay!
I would vote for it also! We used that all the time in Angel and I know a lot of our faculty used it as well!

Replace string functionality would be an excellent addition to Canvas. Off to vote for it now!
