Video conferencing for distance learners

I have students that drive long distances just to get to school. Group study would be a great asset for them. Does canvas offer student-initiated conferencing for students to use independent of their instructor as a facilitator?

 @jminks ,

If you have Groups set up in your course, then yes, students can use the Conferences tool within the group to communicate:

How do I use Conferences in a course as a student?

Hi  @jminks

As a teacher, you can also set up a "long-running" conference that students can check into and work together in. I typically create one each quarter so that students can initiate their own study groups. Learn more at https://community.canvaslms.com/docs/DOC-12853-415265962 .
