What has your experience been with using e-portfolios in Canvas?

Hi, I read some Q & A's on here regarding instructors' usage of the Canvas e-portfolios.  It seems that in years past, people have not had the best experience with it.  There are a couple of teachers in my school who are wanting their students to set up e-portfolios in Canvas. For those of you who have used it, what has your experience been?  Pros and Cons?  How are the assignments submitted?  Are they uploaded through files or shared using Google Drive or another method?  Any templates or content that you can share with me?  Anything - experience and advice would be greatly appreciated.  Thank you.

I'm sad that you didn't get a response to your questions. I am also exploring the use of portfolios in Canvas and am going to choose to use the ePortfolios of each user account. For assignments and such, I would just continue using the assignment feature of the course. Did you decide on a strategy that worked for you?

I thought ePortfolio was being replaced with Portfolium?

I don't know anything about Portfolium, but I decided to do something different with the students I work with. I think ePortfolios are cumbersome. Instead, I am teaching students how to use Google Sites as a way to create a portfolio. They will submit it via link to an assignment for their teacher to review weekly.

I would also suggest Portfolium.  Most of the features are free for Canvas customers, but there are a few features that are included for a fee.  The Portfolium Network - New Training Course on Folios  If you are not an administrator for your school's Canvas environment, you might want to check with that person or your school's Online Learning / eLearning department to see if they have any plans to integrate Portfolium.  Your local Canvas admin can talk with your assigned Customer Success Manager (CSM) at Instructure to get this set up.  Other resources are in Portfolium User Group.  I hope this helps, rpsimon.
