What is the responsive setting?

Responsive Layout Adjustments

Multiple locations within Canvas have received responsive design adjustments for mobile browser widths. The majority of adjustments ensure accessibility for all users and correct unintentional behaviors such as overlapping text and icons. Other adjustments added responsive functionality to Canvas admin and user settings.

These adjustments can be managed individually as feature options until the 18 July 2020 release and are categorized in three areas:

Hi - I have a followup question. Why are these adjustments a feature option and not just updates to Canvas? What are the potential downside(s) to turning on these adjustments?
