I have recently been made aware of how difficult it is for students using "assistive technology" determining whether or not they have already visited a specific link or tab.
Craig
@cdonahue , greetings! I can’t think of any way to do this on the assignment page itself. I will say that this is why I’ve put important content on the Modules and then used a “requirement” so that students would see a green check mark if they had viewed or submitted (etc) that specific piece of course content. For more info on this see the following guide - https://community.canvaslms.com/docs/DOC-13134-415261967

Kona!
Good morning, and thank you for your responses. This last one is the best for what I’m (including faculty I work with) looking for, and it should solve the issue of “how do I know when a student has viewed an assignment.”
Thank you for all your assistance with this, and have a Marvelous Monday!
Craig

Thank you again Kona, I appreciate your responses.
I informed my colleague of your response, but he is looking for more information regarding the following in bold: While looking at the OTL content, I noticed the use of tabs to organize the content. While this creates potential accessibility barriers, I also realized that none of the links on the page were changing status to indicate the link had been visited. Especially on pages where there are long lists of links, it is helpful for users to have some type of feedback to indicate a link has already been visited.
Do you know of a way to make this happen?
Thank you Kona : )
@cdonahue , to be clear, the person is using tabs on one page to house multiple pieces of information. If so, then no, I can't think of a way to do this.

Again, thank you Kona. You've been very helpful and responsive. I appreciate it.
Hi there, @cdonahue ...
I am reviewing older questions here in the Canvas Community, and I stumbled upon your question. I wanted to check in with you because I noticed there hasn't been any new activity in this topic since June 3, 2019. I'm glad to see that you and @kona have been working through your questions. Is there a response above (including your own) that you feel could be marked "Correct"? If so, please go ahead and click on the "Mark Correct" button next to one of those responses. However, if you are still looking for some help from Community members, let us know that as well by posting a note below so that someone might be able to help you out. For the time being, I am going to mark your question as "Assumed Answered" mainly because there's not been any new activity in this topic for six months. However, that won't prevent you or others from posting additional questions and/or comments below that are related to this topic. I hope that's alright with you, Craig. Looking forward to hearing back from you soon.
Hello Chris,
The initial answer sufficed, but when I responded to the faculty member asking the question, he informed me of the accessibility issue, and this element just was't dealt with, yet.
Thanks for checking on me.
Craig
