XML assignment submission type

Is there a way to use assignment submissions that are XML based, like those used by some music notation software? That will work in Speedgrader?

XML files can be submitted as assignment files by students, but they will not display in Speed Grader.  Here is a link to the document that talks about what files can be previewed with the DocViewr:
