copying a created assignment to a new grading period for reuse

How can I copy an assignment from a closed grading period to an open grading period within the same course without recreating the content within the assignment. I have students who need to catch up and all assignments created in the first grading period are not allowing me to copy, duplicate, or move and edit due dates.

I have the same question....I can copy the assignment in the first grading period, but can't find a solution of how to add it to the new grading period.
