Hi, johnsonb@huntingtonisd.com Welcome to the Canvas Community! Are you using a Free For Teachers account—and if you are, have you created a course on your own yet? If you haven't, please use the Start a New Course button on the dashboard to create a course shell, check to make sure you're enrolled in it as a teacher, and then try again. This should allow Canvas to recognize your role as a teacher and continue with authentication into Commons.

If that doesn't work, please let us know so we can continue to assist.

I'm sorry that you're still experiencing this issue. You could try these steps:

  • Log out of your Canvas account
  • Clear the cache and cookies from your browser
  • Type canvas.instructure.com into the address bar to log back in to the Free For Teachers account
  • Click on the new course you created
  • Click on the Commons button in the global navigation
  • Attempt the authorization
  • If that doesn't work, log out and try a different browser (if you normally use Chrome, try Firefox, or vice versa)
