We are always looking for ways to make grading more efficient and less time consuming for instructors. To help instructors save time, we've implemented a keyboard shortcut, 'MI' that can be used to quickly mark a submission as Missing.  This quick keyboard shortcut ‘MI’ was intentionally chosen to avoid confusion with those who may be using ‘M’ as a part of mastery-based grading schemes. We also decided to stick with two letters in order to stay consistent with the keyboard shortcut ‘EX’ for ‘Excused’ assignments.

We hope that this shortcut saves instructors from having to take multiple steps to indicate an assignment is missing within the gradebook or SpeedGrader. This functionality is now available in your beta environment and scheduled to be available for all in production with our January 4th deploy.

It'd be great to get this behavior in SpeedGrader also!

Thank you!  We needed this functionality.

I notice that this does not yet work effectively with "set default grade".  A message comes through that however many grades were updated, but they aren't actually updated.

This trick used to work for marking assignments as excused as well, but that doesn't seem to be working anymore either.  The same behavior happens when trying to enter "missing", "mi", or "excused" (using "ex" caused an error message) with "set default grade".
