Mastery Connect and the Mastery Item Banks provide educators with tools to build and administer classroom assessments and intuitively visualize student mastery of a standard. But what happens when states update their standards?

Since I joined Instructure earlier this year, I’ve been repeatedly honored and humbled by educators around the world and the work you are doing. I have found the many, many conversations I have had with teachers and leaders invaluable as we continue to deliver on our vision of the Instructure Learning Platform, build our roadmap, and look to what’s next. 

Today is the day! After reviewing our proposed path forward with various community members, we can share an outline of the next version of Idea Conversations!

Building on what we learned from you, we created the following guiding principles, which shaped our new approach: 

1. Clarity of success criteria
2. Larger outcomes vs individual solutions
3. Targeted focus areas
4. Regular communication on priorities
5. Delivery

If you are a district administrator using both the Mastery Connect (AMS) and Canvas (LMS) applications, you already have the tools for a successful year. You can easily deliver learning activities through Canvas and visualize student levels of understanding using the power of Mastery Connect from any Canvas Course. 

As you get ready for another year, here are a few best practices to help administrators and teachers quickly set up Mastery Connect courses, so they can focus on what matters most: the students!

Mastery Connect Help Center and Online PD are moving to new and improved homes!

Here at Canvas, we remain committed to diversity, inclusion, and belonging and to serving all members of the Instructure family. We have updated the icon for item banks and resources within Canvas LMS and Mastery Connect to a file folder to acknowledge and respect cultural differences.  One small effort like this, can make a difference for students and instructors in our global community to feel seen and heard.

What do you do if your school or district changes courses at the end of the semester, but your MasteryConnect Tracker is set up to measure student progress for the entire school year? We have a solution, link that Tracker to a different course.

The MasteryConnect Teacher App works as the perfect companion for mastery-tracking both around the classroom and away from your computer. The Teacher App is available on both iOS and Android!

Welcome back for the 2021-2022 school year! It is time for fresh crayons, blank notebooks, and a new MasteryConnect integration with Canvas. Since teachers are busy getting ready for the return of students I wanted to share six of my favorite time saving features in the new integration. 

Districts want to help their educators ensure standard mastery, and then correlate those formative results with benchmark and summative data to predict progress - as well as to analyze disparities and trends by school, cohort, student subpopulation, and more.

Using MasteryConnect and Canvas just got better! Soon Trackers will be connected to Canvas Courses, making it even easier to access the power of the MasteryConnect directly from your Canvas Course. Now you’ll have more time for teaching, assessing, and planning instruction. 

The Tracker is the heart and soul of MasteryConnect. And now it’s even better! We are so excited to share our freshly redesigned Tracker with you! 

For back to school 2021, MasteryConnect has redesigned the Tracker header and made navigation within the Tracker a LOT easier to use. Our team wants teachers to have access to the features that they need on a daily basis and not waste valuable time searching for them.

In the classroom, with a paper copy of a text, students can use highlighters, sticky notes, and all kinds of colorful pens and pencils to help them annotate the text and read for understanding. Active reading while taking online assessments can be more challenging. We have all encountered students who read through a passage quickly, click through the test, and submit without demonstrating an understanding of the subject.

We are taking small deliberate steps in creating seamless experiences between our products—this is one of them, and we need your feedback!
