We’ve heard your feedback and are thrilled to announce that new improvements to the SpeedGrader Comment Library are coming soon!

Starting November 15, these updates will be available as part of the Performance and Usability Updates for SpeedGrader release.

🔍 What’s New

You’ll now have more control and flexibility when managing your saved comments:

  • Sort by Course or Assignment – Navigate your comment library with ease. Simply open the comment library and toggle between All Comments, Course Comments, and Assignment Comments to find exactly what you need.

💡 Why This Matters

These updates make it easier than ever to organize, find, and reuse feedback — helping you save time and stay focused on student learning instead of repetitive typing.

We’re always listening and improving based on your feedback. Keep sharing your ideas as we continue to enhance SpeedGrader and make grading faster, smarter, and more intuitive.

Stay tuned for more updates, and mark your calendars for November 15!

I am excited to see updates to the comment library, which is a popular tool! Will there be a way to copy the course or assignment library comments to other courses? If you are thinking of more updates, I recommend allowing instructors to create folders within their library. It would be valuable to have all comments available in every course, but to be organized by subject matter or assignment type. Allowing instructors to name the folders would make the tool extra flexible.

Thank you for this update, @yasi. Our team reviewed and validated this most recent update.

While the filter does seem helpful, it will overwrite any existing text the instructor had already added. They can perform an 'undo' but not everyone will know how to do so. Also, even though I have "show suggestion" enabled, the comments will not popup, even though I begin typing the phrase verbatim. Here is an example:

I'd like to reference my post, Allow multiple comments and drag and drop in the Comment Library, explaining some of the improvements we'd like to see with the Comment Library, specifically, as we believe its current limitations, which our faculty and staff have reported on a few occasions, make it unlikely to be used. Thank you.

@BWarrington This is a great idea. We'd like to build out a more sophisticated + better organized comment library in the future. Will definitely return to these suggestions when we find the time to get started. @paulamiranda We can certainly take these suggestions (and your previous post) into consideration as well. Combining a comment from the library with an existing comment is not a use case we planned for but certainly makes sense. I'll see if we can get a fix for this in sooner. Appreciate you sharing!
