The SpeedGrader interface can render pdf submissions inline, for example.

For programming classes, where submissions are source code (i.e., plain text, but with non-.txt extensions), it would be great to render that text directly in the SpeedGrader interface, as with pdf content.

Something with syntax highlighting (e.g., pygments) would be cool, but even something as basic as a simple <pre> would work great.

Right now, looking at a single student submission involves downloading the submission (via the attachment on SpeedGrader, or by downloading a zip archive of all submissions), which is a bit cumbersome. With that change, this could be done entirely within the speedgrader.
