That means that either your email address has never been confirmed in Canvas, or else email to that address bounced, and the status of the email address needs to be reset by Canvas Support.

Go to Account > Settings and look at the email address listed in the upper right.  If you see a "!" like is show in the picture below, you'll want to contact Canvas Support (though the Help menu in Canvas, or through your school's Help Desk) and ask them, to reset your email status.
