It's sooo true. A couple of years ago, my husband traveled to help our daughter and son-in-law move. I didn't go because I was in the middle of giving feedback to students so they had the feedback for an upcoming job fair. I was disheartened to realize—after the semester—that the students NEVER saw the feedback. They had NO idea I'd spent hours providing it. They'd only seen the grades and moved on like so many students do. Since then, I've met with students individually to review their most important documents and then created assignments that build upon each other, so that the grade on the next submission is pending that they've followed the feedback on the previous submission. To do this, I've created "how to" videos with students demoing their view and me demoing the professor view so students know where to look. It's really far more complicated for students than it EVER should be. As you've stated, it's also extremely frustrating when it takes several hours to edit documents only to have the feedback NEVER viewed. I was logging in today to make the exact same suggestion.  I'd also like to suggest that students see the feedback entered on submitted documents automatically without clicking "Submission Details" and then "View Feedback." I can spend literallly HOURS grading documents and giving feedback and they NEVER (I mean NEVER) see it unless I require they see it and make a second assignment where they submit it again with the changes (giving me one more item to grade). I'm going to start another feature request for the following and request support:  I'd like to request a menu of proofreader marks to click and drag into documents. I spend a lot of time creating proofreading marks in student feedback. I'm actually a super fan of ChiTester, a testing program developed by Weber State University. You can see it at chitester.weber.edu. Love Love Love Love ♥ ♥ ♥ it!!!!!  You have to have a license (or be an instructor for the university) to use it. I would LOVE it if Canvas integrated ChiTester within Canvas. ChiTester on the Cloud = pretty much the same thing as heaven. So while you're revamping, seriously look at it. ... View more
