Agreed --- currently very annoyed that I can't access the html for pages *I created* in closed Canvas courses without importing the page to a new shell, copying the code there, then deleting it. They could at least have a read-only view of the html code available for development purposes.

Not sure if this will solve your problem, but you mentioned the grade book view as well. For the grade book, select the default option for view->arrange_by - then the order in the gradebook is by assignment group and the assignments appear in the order in which they are in that group. I have never had an issue with assignments in a group re-sorting after I set them in the order I want.
