@akkaufmann I actually implemented this today and got it working. Really cool concept for doing this. Thanks for sharing. I know this is a few years old, but I have one question... Along with the name and course name, is it possible to also pull the module name? We have a course with safety training in it. Each module is a different safety video and quiz in itself and each one doesn't apply to everyone. So you might just be assigned two quizzes of the 12. And I'd like to generate a specific certificate for each module and print the module name on the cert. I'll play around with the custom fields and PHP but was wondering if you knew a way.

@Choachy thanks for your thorough testing and reportage. I would hope it is possible to cause an RCE embedded image uploaded in a graded discussion to be saved to the submissions folder rather than the student's Unfiled folder, where embedded images appear to go. Time for an Idea?

Canvas Admin here... I'm average at best with the Canvas API endpoints. We have about a dozen tasks I've created for us that utilize the API, and I can usually do what I need to do. I've never tried to use the Canvas Commons API before, but I have a need for it now and I cannot even get over the first hurdle of creating a session to get the sessionID. Can someone who has gotten this to work, please share the code they use to get a sessionID for the Canvas Commons API? I'm using the documentation here: https://lor.instructure.com/docs/api/#api-Session-CreateSession I'm first going to https://[our-canvas-domain]/api/lti/accounts/self/jwt_token?tool_launch_url=https://lor.instructure.com/api/lti and getting a jwt_token without a problem. The token I get is around a 3,500 character string, which I assume is good. I then run the example from the doc: curl -X POST -H "Content-Type: application/json" --data '{"jwt_token": "blahblahtokentokentokentoken"}' "https://lor.instructure.com/api/sessions" I get 2 errors returned: Unmatched closed brace/bracket in column 3622 {"errors":[{"param":"server-error","msg":"There was an error"}]} I'm pretty sure the brace/brackets are correct. Aren't they? I've also trying including the access bearer token, but that doesn't seem to make a difference. Do I need this in there? If I can just see an example of how to get the student sessionID response, I can take it from there.

I do this at the admin level and it populates all users. You can choose where you want it to appear.

Hey Troy, I can see where that would be very frustrating for them. As an experiment, I looked for something in my To Do list that I didn't need there, clicked on it, went to the settings for that course and concluded it. I don't see items from that course in my To Do now but I do still see the course listed in my Past Enrollments. Would that work for your instructors?
