As Instructor, how to add powerpoints with sounds?
Kozue, if the sound is embedded in the PowerPoint then the students will need to open the file in PowerPoint (or a viewer) to get the sound to work. It will not work directly from within Canvas. Yet, what a lot of our faculty have been doing is converting their PowerPoint to actual video (using different free or cheap online programs) and uploading the PowerPoint file (for students who want it) and the video of them narrating the PowerPoint.
Thank you Kona!!!
You can convert the PowerPoint file as video using the share option in PowerPoint. Just be sure to configure the settings so all your narrations, sounds, and timings are included in the video file. In Canvas use the media comment option in the rich content editor to upload the video.
Turn your presentation into a video - PowerPoint
How do I upload a video using the Rich Content Editor?
Thank you !
If you are a Mac user, skip PowerPoint and use Keynote instead. You can create a presentation, with sound, in Keynote then export it as a Quicktime video, which will be a m4v file. I was able to use is as a media file assignment submission and then view it with full audio function in SpeedGrader.
