I'm trying to post grades to SIS. Keep getting an error message indicating grading standards are not set. How do I do that?
Wayne, this is the global Canvas Community and your question sounds like it might be specific for your College's specific SIS (not Canvas). What SIS does your Institution use and have you tried contacting your Canvas administrators for help with this (Help link --> Report a Problem)?
I found some documentation about a grading standards API, but am not exactly sure what all the API stuff means.
I do know there's an option to create a grading scheme/standard in your course by going to Settings-->Course Details-->and checking the box next to "Enable Grading Scheme." You'll then have an option to create a scheme or use one that's already created. I'm a visual learner, so here are some images:
Here are some helpful guides on grading schemes and importing to the gradebook as well:
How do I create a grading scheme for my course?
How do I use grading schemes in a course?
How do I upload changes to the Gradebook?
Hope this helps!
Also, the How do I set up an assignment to be sent to my institution's student information system (SIS)? article sounds like it may hold the key to your SIS problem.
Hi Wayne Erickson...
It looks like you've been getting some good help here today. I wanted to let you know that I am going to modify the subject line of your question a bit since you've repeated the same question in the body of your message (no need to duplicate the text both places). Also, I will tag your message with some keywords. Both of these things will make it easier for people to search for your topic here in the Canvas Community should they have similar questions. If the revised subject line doesn't accurately reflect what you are asking in the body of your message, please let me know, and we can make any necessary changes. I hope this is okay with you, Wayne.
Were you able to find an answer to your question? I am going to go ahead and mark this question as answered because there hasn't been any more activity in a while so I assume that you have the information that you need. If you still have a question about this or if you have information that you would like to share with the community, by all means, please do come back and leave a comment.
