I'd like my mobile users to be able to click a link on our school's mobile website that takes them directly to the Canvas iOS app, is this possible?
In case anyone else comes looking for this answer, I've found out that this is NOT possible, and it is a limitation of iOS, not Canvas.
There are just a few apps (like Facebook and Twitter) that have implemented some kind of hack that allows this, but for almost all other cases it is not possible to click a link and open a page in an app. Unfortunately!
John, I'm not sure of the answer to this question, but I'm going to share it with the Canvas Mobile Users Group group in the Community to see if they can help!
Hello, John; it looks like you have the Canvas Community stumped! It's been over a month since we last heard from you. Were you able to find a solution independently, and if so, would you take a moment to update us on how you solved the problem? For now, I will mark this question as "Assumed Answered"; however, it will not prevent you or others from responding--and my new comment will, I hope, serve to "bump" the thread's visibility a bit. Thanks!
I am not sure if this helps, but here is a direct link to the Canvas App via iTunes that can be added into your course: Canvas by Instructure on the App Store
