What's the official word on this? I can only find sparse references of a dev commitment for it's support within the Canvas platform, but nothing definitive. Does Canvas support this standard? Thanks.
Isaiah, it looks like you found the thread with a link to the current documentation. Apart from that, Brad Humphrey's talk from InstructureCon 2015, LTI 1 & 2: State of the Standard, provides some good background.
I think there might never have been a formal announcement of content-item support as a feature because Canvas has supported a extension much like content-item for several years:
Edu App Center - Extensions - Content
A few of our institution's commonly-deployed LTI tools, including The specified item was not found.'s tool, utilize that extension.
Isaiah, could you provide more information on what exactly you are wanting/looking for? It sounds like this might be a back-end Canvas Developer type thing so I'm also going to go ahead and share it with that group to see if they can help.
Content-Item message is a IMS Global standard created to allow the Tool Consumer to interact with the Tool Provider in the creation of LTI launch links. As of July 2015 the new feature was in beta, but I want to know about it's current state. Thanks for sharing it with the other group.
