It seems as if the course content gets lost in all of this new grading process. Those of us with large classes have to rely on test scores mainly for grades. How much time should be allowed for discussion? This method is fine for advanced classes, but for basic information/survey classes discussion can be redundant. We do get to know students by their work. I have found that testing for grade level achievement@ helps to ensure success in the course when the student enrolls in the college.
