How can students submit multiple files from their google drives?
Rowan, I just checked this myself and it doesn't appear that students can submit more than one google doc at a time. They could submit again to add additional files, but would lose access to previously submitted files/documents. In addition, if you added crocodoc feedback on the assignments students would only be able to see feedback for the most recently submitted assignment (not the previous ones).
Hope this helps!
I am aware this is the case.
I would like to know how to submit multiple docs and be able to use speed grader.

Rowan, right now you can't upload multiple Google docs at the same time. You CAN submit different documents to the assignment multiple times - all of these would show up to the Instructor in Speedgrader - they would just stop showing up to the student after each submission.
If you want students to be able to submit multiple files to an Assignment at ONE time then they will need to be uploaded as actual files (not Google Docs). Doing this you can use Crocodoc to add comments, etc to the files and students will see everything. Side note, is this what you mean by use Speedgrader? Technically you can use Speedgrader for everything we're talking about, but only use Crocodoc for certain things - How do I use Crocodoc in Canvas assignments?
We have students who only use chromebooks. Submission is so much easier using the google drive submission area. Is there any way we can request a feature upgrade?
Absolutely! Here's where you would do it - The specified item was not found. and I would check out these documents first - How do I create a new feature idea? & How does the feature idea process work? - just so you understand how everything works!
Good luck! Personally this would be great for me as well! My students do almost all of their work in GoogleDocs so submitting more than one file would be a great addition!
You could use a submission type of "Website URL" to have them share with you a Google Drive folder with multiple files. I don't know exactly what this looks like in SpeedGrader.
This won't display in speed grader and there is also a chance student will edit file after due date.
