When I try to upload a new file to a content page the file name no longer shows up. I get the word "link" and the file does not appear in my file folder for future use. Can you please explain why?
Heather, over the last few days I've seen sporadic reports around the Community that the behavior you've described might be associated with the new Remote Version of the Rich Content Editor and Sidebar. For example, I found this comment in the comments section of the Canvas Production Release Notes. I suspect we aren't yet seeing widespread reports of this because the remote version of the RCE is behind a feature flag, and not every institution has turned it on yet.
So Kona Jones's advice is sound: start a support case, and perhaps provide a link to the same comment in your description, so that Canvas Support can start grouping the tickets together.
Heather, what you're describing doesn't sound like anything I've experienced. My initial recommendation is to double-check that you are following these directions - How do I insert course files into the Rich Content Editor using the Content Selector?
If you are trying to add the file as described above and are still getting the link and not the name of the file, then you might need to file a ticket with Canvas Support (Help link --> Report a Problem).
For what it's worth we do not have the new remote version enabled at our Institution.
