We are setting up homework assignments as graded quizzes. Ideally, we were hoping to set things up so that when students submit their work, they will not be able to see the correct answers OR their actual score on assignment until after the official deadline.
We see how we can uncheck the "Let students see their quiz responses" option in order to avoid feedback (e.g., correct and incorrect answers) leaking out before all students have completed the quiz, but it still appears that students will see right away how they scored (i.e., they'll see the score, perhaps 4 out of 12, without feedback as to which items were missed). Is there a way that the score can be hidden until we choose to release it?
We're essentially trying to avoid situations where students submit assignments prior to the deadline, see they did not score the way they wanted to, and then try to argue with us in order to allow them to re-do the assignment since the official deadline has not passed. We could hide grades in our old LMS, but it doesn't seem like that is possible with Canvas. If not, we'll have to re-think what we tell students about these assignments in our syllabus!
