Is there a way to search only for Commons content created by a specific author? In general, are there any search limiters for Commons? (eg., site:.colostate.edu OR account:colostate.edu)
Jonathan, this guide lists the search parameters currently available in Commons: How do I use Commons?
I have found that the typical delimiters do not work in the Commons search field. For example, I have authored some content, and I put quotation marks around my name "Stefanie Sanders" in the search field to see if only my content showed up in the results. Despite the quotation marks, the search results included not only courses whose descriptions contained the word "sander" but also content from other authors with the surname "Sanders."
Searching on tags works well--of course, this is dependent upon how well the author has tagged the content--and as the guide explains, schools can share by group or consortium. If, for example, your school--Colorado State--has created resources that have only been shared to your school/consortium/group, and you are working within a Colorado State Canvas account, you can untoggle "Show Public Resources" to show only those resources.
Thank you for confirming this. The people I am working with on campus are having trouble finding specific materials. I am trying to look for best practices.
