Custom Roles and Canvas Inbox

We'd like to take greater advantage of custom course roles, but it appears that the custom course roles still don't show up in the Inbox when drilling down in a course to view users. I know this has been brought up in the past, and I had thought that was something that Canvas had fixed. Is this on the radar? Will it be fixed anytime in the next few months or even years?

we're having this issue right now with our Librarian role. The links above don't go anywhere. anyone know if there was a fix to this issue?
