Does anyone have any questions or concerns regarding students having the ability to use the Insert Content into Page area when replying to discussion?
Robbie, I'm not experiencing any issues with it, because of the way I have my courses configured. The Files tab is hidden from the left navigation, so when students click on the "Files" tab of the Insert Content into Page editor, no course files load, and I believe that setting also governs the images they can see when they click on the "Images" tab (in my testing, they can't see any of my uploaded images--the only option they have is to "Find images on flickr creative commons," which is fine with me). That means that students can effectively only use the first tab--"Links"--in the Insert Content editor, and I think that is helpful for students posting in discussion topics, especially when they're requesting clarification on course material.
On the other hand, in courses where the Files tab has to be enabled in the left navigation for design purposes, I can see that having the Insert Content editor visible in discussions would require instructors to deliberately and carefully set their file/image viewing permissions.
