Launching multiple instances of quizzes

We're experiencing an issue when instructors use computer labs for proctored exams.  This issue has occurred multiple times for us.  When a couple of dozen or more exams are launched at the same time the students receive a locked error message.  The tickets submitted via ServiceCloud include this information.

 

ERROR:  deadlock detected

DETAIL:  Process 73367 waits for ShareLock on transaction 2962098161; blocked by process 73852.

Process 73852 waits for ShareLock on transaction 2962097289; blocked by process 75567.

Process 75567 waits for ShareLock on transaction 2962098152; blocked by process 76981.

Process 76981 waits for ShareLock on transaction 2962097931; blocked by process 73509.

Process 73509 waits for ShareLock on transaction 2962100197; blocked by process 73367.

HINT:  See server log for query details.

 

Tier1 support reports this is an issue because the server was busy at that time.  Anyone else experiencing a similar issue?  Should we tell instructors Canvas does not support launching multiple instances of a quiz simultaneously?
