How do you choose a specific file? Do you need a path and file extension?
Melissa, I haven't had occasion to test this yet myself, but based on the documentation, it looks like the admin first needs to do some magic at the account level. According to the Canvas Release Microsoft Office 365 LTI document, the feature option first has to be set to allow teachers to manage existing collaborations. Has your school gone through all of the necessary steps yet?
Hi Melissa Buonato,
Thanks for you question. There is some good info on collaborations in the link that Stephanie Sanders mentions above. Good to keep in mind that:
To more specifically answer your question, collaborations only work to create new files. You will not able to use a previously created file. So when creating a collaboration you choose the document type and then type the name for you would like assigned to the document in the 'Document Name' input box.
Hope that helps!
Melissa Buonato There is a work around to the requirement of creating a new document for Office 365. I do not know if this will work for Google since we are an Office 365 district. If you want to create a collaboration that has more of a template than a blank page, try this:
Hope this is at least a little helpful.
Kate McGee, could you clarify something for me? In your reply you stated...
Does your reference to Google Drive mean that if you already had Google Drive collaborations and you turn on O365 collaborations that your existing Google Drive collaborations links will be removed?
