I would like to email all students without using the inbox or announcement. CTools created a unique name for each course; does canvas do the same? Thanks.
Hello, Raymond, and welcome to the Canvas Community! Canvas does not associate a single email address with a course, and does not replicate the functionality of an email client. However, if you do decide to use the Canvas Inbox to send a message to all of your students, students with their notification preference for Conversations set to notify them to an email address can reply directly to the message from their external email. The reply will populate the Canvas Inbox and will also send a notification to you according to how you have set your own notification preferences.
You can choose to send individual messages to each student--and unless you want all students to see all replies, this setting is probably preferable--or you can have all students participating in the conversation.
For more information, please refer to How do I use Conversations? and How do I set my Canvas notification preferences?
Yea, I get that. But there are times when I wish to email a link to students and, okay, I am lazy, and it is easier to just email it to an alias, rather than cutting and pasting in Canvas.
